After a post at THE MESS THAT IS MY MIND blog I thought I would track visitors for awhile again. Gosh it is funny really. I did discover that one of my posts has a very popular photo apparently. So I set up anti leech controls on it through cpanel and then took a look later. Still that post was getting hit a lot so I deleted the link to the larger version of the photo. Now the hits are getting lower and lower on that post and it’s rank in google has gone down. Amazing when folks cant snitch the pic how that works out. Not that visits to my blog are not important but rather have folks coming here to be friendly not stealing. I mean ask and I always do creative commons but when one pic is always getting hit I gotta assume the photos is getting used without attrition.
Next up on the popular list are some of the wooden ship model update posts.
Well now that I have written another post it will be interesting to see what happens next in the who is reading what and how they got here to read in the first place. Very disconcerting – the blog gets more hits on days where I have not written anything LOL so I might take this to mean silence is better?
Once I created a test page. Nothing on it but a graphic and a few key phrases. I did nothing for months but track hits. When things are active in the world – like this weeks Egypt news – people must use search engines more – I dunno but a page with nothing much on it that never changes gets more hits when big news is out . …
isn’t it wild?! some of the search terms that lead to my blog… craziness! i have had fun (maybe too much fun) looking at the visitor’s and how they got to my page…
It is fun how some readers arrive to a post using terns that seem totally irrelevant to the post.
How many RSS subscribers do you have?
I have not a clue really. I know my friendfeed has 7 LOL I know there are more out there because of the tracking via cPanel other than that ??
I have one entry that gets spam comments (they always put in links). Some are from porn sites, some aren’t. But they are always on my post called Winter Doldrums. None other than that. I don’t get it.
LOL my top post is Orange You Glad I typed and they were just snitching the photo. It is no longer available in large format and now it is no longer the top post bra hahahahah.
so I suspect my stats will go back down. Like do I really care? Umm maybe cause just reading other blogs and not ever having to write something myself really is looking attractive cause I am lazy.
Imagine the searches that bring folks to this post. I didn’t want to put the title here and “pollute” your blog too. Anyway, I can only envision the disappointment when they come to my blog in comparison to what they were searching for!

you do know that the link has the title in url right LOL? No matter it is good for a laugh if what they are looking for is different than what the find ha ha.
I am sort of stuck right now because if and I mean if I actually wrote and shared what hangs around in the rat nest I call my brain It might come out wrong and then Oh NO! My humongous readership might run and hide LOL.

I actually think about the self-censorship of what I write. I think what I really want to say gets skewed by my fear. Or maybe it’s common sense filtering? Dunno. There is something to be said for closed or invitation-only online communities.
Today, I came from Twitter but normally I would come from my Google Reader. I’ve been avoiding my Reader for a couple of days now. Will be way too many when I go check. Oh well. I’ll never catchup, I should admit it now. 🙂

i have some of those posts hit on some unseemly keywords… anything that might in some way be remotely related to the “s” word…. and it’s not even close to that topic… drives the visits and spam way up… although with disqus i don’t hardly any spam anymore…
yeah sex does sell so maybe everyone should come and tell a steamy story then watch the stats fly! It does amaze me what strange searches land peeps here.
