I did it! I drove my sorry little (yes, really it is tiny) arse up north to my home group to celebrate – MY 26th year of sobriety.
Never thought I would live long enough LOL anywhoo ….
I had made arrangements to have a friend go with my so if I got too tired or my dang right foot caught fire I would be covered. My other half had to work 🙁
My friend had a family issue and could not go. So, I got in my truck and went anyways. This is a big deal – honest.
I was driving down the freeway and country highways with the window part down and the heater up. I love the smell of home when I cross the river. Nothing smells like the mucky clay and moldy shores.
I turned the radio on – something I stopped doing a while back as it is distracting at times. Once out of the city and on the road on it went. I chose an old country station. Well, there old is my not so old from my younger years.
It is only an hours drive so not that big of a deal. On the way home I was singing to myself out loud to whatever song was on and incorporating the words – my foot is not on fire into the lyrics ahhahahhah …..
Needless to mention I made it home. It was so refreshing to like go somewhere by myslelf, roll the window down and act well – silly? Yep just me, my truck, and the radio. Oh yeah there was a skunk in there somewhere along the way that was no longer singing . … my foot is not on fire the skunk did not hit the tire – you can get the picture . . …
Well, first off…congratulations on 26 YEARS! That’s an awesome accomplishment that you should trumpet all over the place. Wow.
And second, it sounds like a great day. There is nothing quite as cool as getting on the road on a nice day and loving it…three times better when it’s something you’d been concerned about doing alone.
