It has been a crazy past week or so. Nothing special just kind of wacky. First off my friend was in one of those train bumper fender benders on the freeway – no one hurt but her car a total. Our new and improved power bill arrived and the Smart Meter they installed decided for the first time in over 28 years we used almost four times our normal amount of electricity. Nothing to do but pay it as the big energy corps rule! Do not try applying common sense to this – it does not work.
The Storm in a Box
Next I have been working on moving the mother board from the hot (as in temperature) running little Gateway into a new case a CM Storm case. It turned interesting when I discovered that many of the board connectors are not labeled and Gateway is not forth coming with info. A web search turned up lots of folks looking for the same info to no avail. the wiring is fairly straight forward in the Storm case but where oh were on the header block do these wires go! Will I did figure it out. Lots of tiny wire connections and tiny screws later . … the Storm is done. Maybe later I will ad some of those sound sensor LED lights and a lighting cathode tube – hee hee make it look like a storm is going on inside.
So that is what I have been doing mostly. No school this week – Spring break – you would think Spring might decided to arrive? The weather is overcast and almost looks like a storm is coming? Should watch the weather report this evening.
It is only day two into the break and I am already worn out. Working with my clumsy hands on the Storm case install has my fingers – well not cooperating at the moment. Stayed up to late goofing with the computer and reading. My typing is really bad right now so I made a video rather than type on.

That’s some computer! Love the lizard emblem. You amaze me, all I can do is plug my computer in!
Cheers

Computers do work better when plugged in!
Do not giggle now – the big problem I had was that there are four wires, two power to ground. Each set goes on this tiny little black block on the computer motherboard – one set to for the power on and off button the other a reset. Now they are labeled on the wires as such from the case but the A holes that made the motherboard did not see fit to label the place they plug into. So with a possibility of 13 pins the hit and miss situation was annoying.
Find the right combo and woo hoo the computer turned on after I remembered I had unplugged it from the wall

So does the power company have any thoughts on the 4x usage with your Smart Meter?!
Liked the lighting up with colors shots. Excellent lyrics to go along with the video. Although sometimes I get too literal — there are geckos (or lizards) multiplying inside under the skin of your new cool-looking Storm? 🙂

The power company think medical insurance . …
The lighting up was a cheat of sorts – I used the infra red of the mouse and I bit of video magic for the blue at the end – as I do not have my sensor lights and tubes yet just the fans and power supply lights.
Just fit how the MS has me feeling after putting all the stuff in the Scout Storm case.
One of those I did it things . …

Cheating works, at least in regards to video creation.
Yeah, the lyrics jumped out at me — sounded like it was talking about neurowonk a first. That is until the lyrics about the things dividing under the skin was overlapped with the lizard images (think your eyes were in there somewhere too)!
Then I had to ponder, uh, lots of things…whose skin…the Storm?…Jan?…all those with whatever living under their skin?…No, I’m too literal…well, maybe….
good diversion for avoiding my medical paperwork for the Dallas visit!

Fun video. How does the Gateway like its new digs? As someone who used to write those tech manuals, I do wonder why we bothered!
Love the new header, by the way 🙂

the manual really did not have much info LOL maybe you should have written it? It would made more sense I am sure! It did have pictures 🙂 I confess to looking at the pictures.
The motherboard is manufactured for Gateway, HP, etc and no one and I mean no one has a diagram available to use end users – they act like it is as top secret as a military detonator.
The computer is much happier not running at +60 deg C it is at 31-37C now and the hard drive is very happy now that some air can cool it.
