Gotta wonder how many folks do not realize or remember that when you fill out those little boxes with answeres to questions like :
street you grew up on?
name of first pet?
Moms maiden name?
as your security questions to recover, offer proof of identity, for many of your accounts that you should
NOT I repeat NOT make public knowledge of your answers!
Just a quick note cause there are a couple of mems going around again that glean this info from participants.
Hello At and t I forgot my password.
Ok I need you to answer the security questions you filled out when you signed up.
Ok
what was the name of your first pet?
the name of the street you grew up on?
town you met you husband/wife/etc in?
Somewhere there is someone who can and will use this believe me it is easier than you think to take over someones blog, cell phone account, twitter, you name it!
Be careful out there and if have put your answeres out there you might wanna go pick a new security question.
Just saying.

Excellent advice. If possible, it is nice to pick really obscure security questions (for which answers will not change over time if you have memory issues). However, there was one instance where my security question (don’t think I had a choice when it was established) was related to favorite food. I couldn’t for the life of me remember what had been my favorite food at the time I established that account. It was pathetic. Not like there should have been too many possibilities. ๐

Boy have I been there done that on forgetting who or what my favorite ? was at the time I answered the question ๐
I now have a thumb drive that is very well hidden – and KRP knows where it hidden also – case I forget ha ha that contains any service that has password, the email I used, the user name and question answered. Worst case i go un-hide it locate the info and woo hoo!
the latest mem questions four of my services use those questions – I know this cause I just went through them all making up the spread sheet for the thumb drive. gosh if I answered them add a family tree look up and wah la!

I use different, but easy, ones for all that stuff. It just hit me though that there’s a FB and blog entry going around about assigning yourself a royal name. After reading this, I had to think if any of my names were the security answers. No, I’m safe. Thanks for the reminder!
Peace,
Muff

A couple companies do not give a choice and both ask those exact questions except the first name. and yeah right now some one some where who used face book is reaping the goods of their dastardly deed.
Ghosting someone else.

I always find those questions soooo annoying.
