Today was down right HOT! I crawled into cold water in the tub more than once. So hope my body sort of acclimates. I know, I Know, multiple sclerosis makes me so heat intolerant. Sucko symptom.
So I got bored. Yep imagine that bored. Well I moved the big arse fan into the puter room and blew the hot air about. Then I decided the pimp my blog! Woo hoo – something to do.
I moved the comment button to the bottom right side after the post since I figure if you read the post that is where you end up at. Then I added the breadcrumbs for the posts. I guess if someone wants to browse the dang things they do not have to click older post, older post . … over and over again. Now you my readers can just click a number. Pick a number any number. You can do this because I decided to pimp my blog.
Since working along with Sherri over at sherristakes getting her blog up and running I have been notified that getting the latest subscribe and follow bling is a big deal LOL. Ok so I broke down and added a subscribe by email button in the upper right column. Then I took her word for it and bit the bullet and signed up for google webmaster something or other in my quest to pimp my blog. Then I added a cool widget that customizes your greeting depending on where you came from and reminds you to follow this blog! I am thinking that is not the pimp my blog thing but more like hawking for subscribers or comments – I dunno.
Then Sherri decided to implement one of the plugins in her blog and her site well, it nutted up – fatal errors are like lions, and tigers, and bears Oh my! So that got fixed. We are just having so much fun pimping our blogs. I tell you this pimp my blog is all her fault really truly it is.
So what do you all think? Do you use anything like all of the above? Is it easier to comment with the link on the bottom? Or did you just not notice all the pimping we have done.
That is the end of this segment of
PIMP MY BLOG
Karen
Ummmmmmm…I didn’t notice, sorry. I’m guilty of just reading the post of the day. I don’t really look beyond that, because I read 30- 50 blogs a day. Ya…I know, I should get a life, but I enjoy blogs.
Cheers
kmilyun
maybe it is like a haircut – no one notices and it is good? LOL thanks for stopping by!

All I read was: blah blah and blah blah…I am computerly challenged. And I can’t even pimp ME!
kmilyun
LOL well blah blah … blah blah back at you!
sherri
Pimp it Jan! LOL
I don’t think anyone’s noticed anything different on my blog either if that makes you feel any better…. oh well… at least folks are still reading and stuff….
and NO FATAL ERRORS TODAY!
kmilyun
that is a good thing lack of fatal errors!
Nicole
hey nice job. Who says having a subscribe and email thing is like bling? What is this google thing? ???
Nicole
kmilyun
It is just a joke that Sherri and I had going that the adding subscribe stuff was bling. I guess it depends on you definition of bling. I am not into lots of gizmos and gadgets just stuff that make the blog run. So in a way adding extra’s is sort of bling?
The google webmaster tools offered by google.

I get your every word on my Dashboard reading list that comes up when I sign in. All I had to do was add your url to Blogs I’m Following on the dashboard’s left side, and voila! there you are – whether you belong to blogger or not. Sherri’s there too, but I haven’t heard from her recently. Wonder why not? (ahem)
sherri
Webster – I’m here!! But my blog moved to a new host so there is a new feed…. if you haven’t signed up for the new feed it won’t show up in your list…. You probably have the feed to the old site and so the updates won’t come through… Go get the new one woman!!! 🙂

What I want to know is why the hell are we all still awake at this hour? I need some sleep, dagnabbit!
I just did what you said, and it works in my blog reader now, just like before, and the other two?? last posted 1 week ago. So Adding your current URL did the trick [as I knew it would]. See? I’m not quite as dumb as I write, even if I don’t know what an RSS feed is. Welcome back!!
sherri
LOL too funny Webster!!
and i am awake because in about 1 hour my happy arse has to walk out this door and go to work… bleh i want to stay in bed and sleep but that doesn’t work for me just yet…. gotta keep working as long as i can
AND!! you are not dumb at all!!!!!! hush your mouth~~
the rss feed is what makes the new posts show up in readers, sidebars, etc…. 🙂
kmilyun
I see Sherri has explained – one of the snafu’s of changing over – a blogger instigated problem I shall add.
kmilyun
Ha ! I finally get to sleep and I miss the early morning comments LOL
Some folks do not have blogger accounts and some folks I find believe it or do not use news readers. So I added the other options. Not to mention I really was bored until the plugin snafu on Sherri’s site.
The word dumb as never crossed my mind when it comes to you!
Donna
Yay to having comments at the bottom where, IMHO, they belong.
I don’t think having an RSS feed suggestion at the bottom of the post is too much — it’s kinda big htough. I too had added the “You might also like” gadget. Although Bloggers uses images which just slows down the page load. Does your gadget allow you to choose which post you recommend or does it do it for you like Bloggers?
I tried some stuff with feedburner but I have both Atom and RSS feeds. Added an email thing but not sure if I’ve really buggered it all up.
Anyway, thumbs up.
kmilyun
The plugin I choose to use does not support pictures but it does change if you came here still logged in at facebook it would show a facebook icon and suggest you share it there LOL. It is kind of cool. I can change what it hunts for by excluding some posts or tags but I left it set at the out of the box setting for now.
I had catfish log in and sign up for the email so I could test it and he is a happy little doggy cause he received his email!

Hmm, I’m logged into my Facebook account (my personal one not the blog page one) and I don’t see a FB icon.
kmilyun
Well dang I did go check and yep it stopped working LOl oh well hahah so much for that great idea! Still it is kind of perdy down there at the end of the post!
Must be why Sherri added the comment luv thing see how she is did not even tell me!
LOL
Jan
sherri
hey now!!! i thought i told you about the “sexy sharing” plug in… how could i forget to tell you about something with a name like that? dang MS…..
kmilyun
Ha! I am not sure I wish to have a sexy sharing thingy!
Ya know what they say . … to much . …

Personally, I think messing with your blog’s template and layout and gizmos and doodads from time to time is a good thing. When we get bored, bad things happen… but it might be fun!
I know it’s not new, but I really like the way your blog handles comments. It encourages a conversation, makes it an interactive kind of thing. If I could implement this kind of feature on my lame Blogger blog I might be better about responding to comments. Or maybe I would still be an indolent slime weasel. Yeah. Indolence would probably win out. But I still like the way your blog handles comments!
kmilyun
that is good to know it is hard to judge something when I know what it is suppose to be doing and am used to it.
Some how I do not think of you as a lazy slime weasel.

I’m still trying to figure out how to follow…my “reader” doesn’t know how to read very well. It misses about HALF of the posts so I don’t trust it. Should it go back to kindergarden?
kmilyun
Hiya! I think everyone’s readers are going nuts with comments showing up and not showing up from blogger blogs.
My comments are getting off here jumbling lines etc my fingers are at fault not the software LOL.
I am going back to kindergarten a lot these days the hotter it gets the slower my brain goes.
