News Crew Attacked
When I was a senior in High School our choir was traveling to an event. The bus crashed through a guard rail and then down 30 or so feet landing upside down. The scene was horrific and as news of the accident rippled through our high school the reporters showed up. Most of us did not even understand yet that our friends were dead. It was crazy emotional as news folks tried to interview. A few words were exchanged and if stories are true on kid pushed a camera out of their face. But no one exchanged punches, no one kicked a reporter, and no one got violent.
This video is the raw footage so it has the bad language in it so not the sanitized one that is on the National News.
This is an example to me of the behavior many of see everyday. The reporters at this news station are pushy yes, but they are respectful the times I have seen them in action. The do go for the story and can be relentless. These people were on public property – the mourners and the news crew. I am not in the mood to argue as to whether or not the reporters should or should not have left these folks alone. What I want to point out is the mob mentality. What is going on here? When did cursing and attacking become the norm response? Sad.
Diane blogged at A Stellarlife about police using excessive force the other day. Lately I have not personally seen any police brutality here in Sac but I am sure someone will claim they have. What I usually see with my own eyes is the crowds going after the bystanders and police. I have seen some questionable police actions in the bay area.
Forget Eygypt folks we have big problems here in this country and “There’s trouble in River City”.
