So here is the boat. This item is becoming another one of those debatable toy issues. I just said good-bye to my Harley and now there is talk about “the boat”. I draw the line or at least I am trying to make the mark in the sand.
The storage costs are the problem. Since our roommate has announced that, she will be moving out sometime between tomorrow and two years (long story), we have been cutting costs in preparation. On the top of the list are our household storage and the boat storage fees. AUGH!!
Yeah, I nod my head I love my little boat, it was purchased with funds when I cashed out my company 401K, it is my boat no? Ok it is all community property but it is my toy then. It is not really about whose toy it is but the thought of giving up something else.
I admit that I cannot launch the dang thing myself but. … The real hit is that most of our fishing friends have been falling like flies. They are getting older, they are dying, or they have moved – the result is not too many folks we know can launch the boat or they are unwilling to put in the effort ;(. Amazing how you figure out who your friends are when you can no longer do or go.
Therefore, here I sit with thousands of dollars in fishing rods and reels, lures, plastics etc. and no way to get my ass out on the water and I am increasingly F’ing pissed off about it.
I think I am putting my numb feet down and digging in. I have been threatening to haul it over to my bud’s house and get it ready for the summer. Tow it up to Shasta Lake where my friend can launch it and do all the boat-ish things that need to doing to get out and fish. My niece offered to let us store it on their property in Biggs – it is sounding better and better because her husband can do the boat-ish stuff too and we can fish Oroville.
Since the boat is a deep V design it is more stable than a traditional bass boat. I have never falling out when hit by waves from the skiers like I have in other small craft that do not have high gunwal
es (?) I like the set up it has the live well is large enough although more storage for rods would be a plus. It is small enough that launching should not have become a problem – and the cover is high enough that it does not interfere with casting especially when on small front deck. We even bought a new fish finder last year and the graphic interface is awesome making locating the structures so much easier.
Strippers, salmon, bass, and even catfish (not to be confused with Mr. Catfish) was I not kind? don I not practice catch and release a lot – I will bow to the fishing god’s, I will not walk under a ladder – come on whatz up with all this!
Well enough whining for now I guess as it is not really that productive in the long run although it does make me feel better – sort of. This so sucks. I am really getting tired of the take, take, and take of MS.
