Remember – 9/11 – The Victims

This is a tough one. Each and every person who died in or as a result of the 9/11 attacks is remembered. By those close to them, those who knew them, those who shared in their lives, and those of us who never knew them. To pick one person to memorialize is impossible for me. Instead here is the link to the database/list of all the confirmed victims. Click on a few names – it is over whelming – perhaps that represents my memories of it all. Glued to the TV in disbelief –

Then came the song: Where were you when the world stopped turning … funny thing is I had finally started watching old reruns, I did read my Bible, and I do remember exactly what I was doing when the first news cast came over the radio. I was driving in the darkness to work. To a high-rise building that housed the State Trade and Commerce Dept… I remember the fear when there was a reported missing plane – maybe on the way to Calif. I stood in front of the parking structure turning people away, checking Id badges, total confusion. We borrowed a TV from the pawn shop next door…

Now there are more victims, those on all sides who have died fighting.

And possibly a generation of children who will grow up NOT knowing the pre 9/11 – the era before where many lived in blissful ignorance of how vulnerable to terrorism we really are.

It was an indelible moment; you will always remember where you were when it happened. Just like some remember where they were when JFK was shot, when ML King was shot, and when Pearl Harbor was attacked. I remember the tuck and duck drills of the Cold War – hiding under a silly little desk – pretending that if a missile hit us I would be save. Now where do our children hide?

My tribute is a simple one – yet two fold – I still wear my “We will Never Forget” 9/11 pin my company passed out – and I still pray for an end to all the fighting – for peace – and I go about my everday life – so the terrorists have not won.

Tired is As Tired Does

And the title should explain it all! Wow, was I ever so tired.

Things that transpire post adventures are all but forgotten until – until – until I have to do them. Tedious chores such as washing the truck, cleaning the bike, unpacking, and cleaning the fishing gear. Usually I run the truck through a car wash at the local gas station because it has a brushless system. After the truck repair – no car wash for awhile – not good for the new paint. I must mention that the bike was unfortunatley parked under a pecan tree. Pecan trees leave lots of sticky yucky goo all over. And the sticky yucky stuff is still there. Lazy.

So here I am a week later and still tired. Last Friday I rode to Redding and then back to Anderson. Saturday climbed way too many steps touring Shasta Caverns. Spent all day Sunday on Lake Shasta Bass fishing. Rode around and back to Sacramento on Monday. My friends decided that all day Tuesday and into Wednesday night we just HAD to go fishing.

Thursday I washed the truck inside and out and repaired the missing and torn up carpet in the campershell that Annie decided served no purpose other than to vent her frustration on a few months back.

Friday I decided to sleep the day away. I enjoyed it so much – I decided to repeat my couch potato role again on Saturday.

Now if I could only figure out why my computer refused to come out of sleep mode? ๐Ÿ™‚

The Astroturf of my Life

Today I tried unsuccesfully to share my printer with my laptop over the wireless network. Really! How terrible this is ๐Ÿ™‚ – having to walk upstairs if I want to print. I feel so deprived. Just kidding – but now it is a “it is gonna work no matter what” thing around here.

I have firmed up the plans for my ride to the California Hog Rally in Redding. We are going to stay with my friend Ronny and she is going to borrow her fathers boat so we can go bass fishing on Sunday. Hopefully we will all have time to fit a trip to the Shasta Caverns in. I love the bus ride to the entrance and caves are always interesting. Been years since I have been there. Fe and I, along with a few others will be riding up and Rae will be following in my truck. I must be crazy – riding on a holiday weekend!

Medmiky will be staying at the homefront pampering Catfish, Annie, and Osoa dogs. I noticed a new package of Frosty Paws in the freezer today. The dogs think Frosty Paws are the best thing next to real “people” ice cream.

Drumsnwhistles has been busy keeping us updated and informed on issues involving scientology and the CCHR.ย  After following her links I googled astroturfing. Very interesting. I wonder, is the anti astroturfing site – astroturf?

Dat’s all for now folks.
