My most loyal follower, my best friend, the dude who is always there by my side each and everyday is going in for surgery tomorrow morning. I found a lump on his front leg – the elbow area that was not large enough to notice when I combed him out a few days ago. Just three weeks ago he passed his yearly check up with flying colors.
The vet thinks statistically by feel and location that it most likely is some form of cancer and not one of the fatty deals that dogs do get as they get older. There is hope that it is a strange feeling fatty thing but . …
We left our usual vet office this evening and hunted down where Catfish’s favorite doctor was now. He and some of his fellow docs started a new practice few years back but we were not sure where. The doc that was going to do the surgery was – well Catfish did not like him and quite honestly the place the last few visits was not as pleasant as before . So a few phone calls and we located the Docs new digs and wow the place was awesome. The receptionist was nice and instead of hiding under my chair Catfish ran to greet his old doc. This guy always did and still does listen and take the time to explain everything and that was that.
So my little champ Catfish, KRP, and I will head out early tomorrow and then I will wait to hear how the surgery goes and then we wait for the biopsy results to know for sure. The most common type while having any type is not a good thing – well the most common type usually does not spread and may or may not return.
Hoping for the best.

Poor Catfish. Poor you and KRP. Deep breaths and positive thoughts. I’m glad you found your former vet; sounds like Catfish feels confident in his/her care. When a dog hides under the chair in the waiting room, that’s not good. Sending positive energy your way.

The zoomdoggies hope Catfish has an uneventful surgery and quick recovery, and that the lump turns out to be nothing worth worrying about. Extra treats and some serious pampering are definitely in order.

Glad you took the time to seek out the old vet — sounds like a much better scenario.
Good luck to you all! And, yes, treats!

Hi Jan,
Hope Catfish recovers well and it turns out to be nothing malignant.
