TUESDAY
The past few weeks have been very strange for lack of a better description.
Our room mate that has been moving out since err I think first it was the end of April, then it became the middle of May . … and so it went. This weekend she did it – she moved out. Catfish is rather confused as he has never known a world without his “auntie” he keeps going into her room trying to figure out where o where is she.
KRP wants me to move all the stuff in this room I am in now into the empty room. At first it kind of sounded good to me as the other rooms A/C heat duct is closer to the unit so the room stays cooler and it is a foot or two wider. Then the reality of having to move all my crap hit YIKES!
We have been bringing boxes back from storage and I have been going through them sorting – Goodwill, someone we know wants it, garbage can, and keeper. Since our friends gave us the china cabinet I have been hunting for all my Grandma’s stuff. I managed to find a hidden cupboard when she was moving and snatched up some china, and her silver wedding candle sticks . My brother (cause he was married) got everything else and has since lost all of it in their travels!!!! So the few pieces I have are important to me and my niece who also got ripped in the deal. Oh isn’t family crap ol a fun LOL.
Of course I have to polish the silver, wash the china, etc. kind of relaxing in a way.
Now what I am wondering is how can we bring back lets say two boxes, get rid of some of the stuff in them, and end up with three boxes worth? It grows ha ha ha.
I decided that I am freaking tired of stuff falling out of cabinets and attacking me every time I try to get something out. Especially in the kitchen. I swear KRP as no since of the idea that stuff you use everyday goes somewhere close to where it is used and stuff you use once a year can be tucked away out of the way. She flunked kitchen organization 101 – she had to have!
So point being, I am reorganizing the kitchen.
The living room is full of boxes, the kitchen counter still has some junk on it, and I am looking at getting new carpet into the empty room, moving all this crap . … well you probably get the idea.
This afternoon in the eighth box I unpacked I found my Grandma’s candle sticks and my Reed Barton Paul Revere bowls. The are all polished up and shinning away in the cabinet. I polished the rest of my salt and pepper collection too.
WEDNESDAY
KRP left his morning to go to Ryan’s Junior High Graduation in Nevada. The plan was for her to come home tomorrow – well that was the plan anyway. I was thinking this morning while cleaning the kitchen cupboards that this is the first time in about 8 years that I have been home alone. When KRP was gone our room mate was here. When I visited someone without KRP well I was visiting someone so not alone. Weird really.
Well about 2 hours after KRP called to say she was about 20 mins from Billy and Trish’s I got another call from her.
Err- augh – seems the Wagon now has a a new stripe running from front wheel well to rear wheel well – umm. Ok no one hurt, no mechanical damage just a big long indented stripe. I must tell you there is a reason that since 1982 I have done almost all the driving on long trips because the freaking car comes home without a stripe LOL! Oh wells . … now if it had been the truck I would be a tad more pissed. Billy is going to realign the fender so it does not hit the passenger door – umm this does not sound so good?
So now I KRP is coming back home Thursday instead and I get to toss more junk hee hee . … I spent the afternoon going through the boxes. I divided the stuff that was “keepers” into small piles and then lugged it upstairs in small boxes. Then I repacked the larger boxs upstairs and put them in the closet. I finished most of the kitchen and then plopped my hind end on the couch and watched TV and read.
Tomorrow I am going to lunch with my friend Tony and then making home made spaghetti sauce and garlic bread for dinner as our ex roomy is coming over. Catfish will be happy to see her. We are going to watch Apollo 13 on Blue Ray, eat some pop corn and chill.
Well off to bed after I look up blue book on the car to see if the damages exceed it’s value. I am thinking yeah they do so since we can not afford a new car right now I guess we now own a dented car and switch to liability only probably should have done that earlier anyways. Looked the value up and oh yeah this is not getting turned into the insurance company LOL
OK really going nite nite now . …

I just acquired a china hutch a year or so ago. It was really nice to unpack my grandma’s china, clean it up and put it in there. Now to actually use it — I don’t really have a lot of use for fancy dishes. 🙂
Good luck sorting through the boxes and kitchen. I’ve been on a half-hearted quest to clean through things and send stuff to Goodwill in preparation for moving down the road.
Sorry about the car.

It is cool to me to look at my Grandma’s china etc. I remember eating off it at her house on special occasions. I found my old flintstones glass that I she would place by the kitchen sink just for me to use to get water – fond memories.
The kitchen is not very big and there are not many cupboards. And then I am thinking they are all in the wrong places LOL. I managed to rearrange all the crap and did get rid of some stuff.

You make staying home alone awful.
At least you got a lot done, as did KRP – lol.
kmilyun
LOL Webster! But yeah I really do not like staying alone never been my thing.
KRP is on her way home so I get to see the new stripe ha ha – it could have been worse no one was hurt and that is the important thing.

Call me cold. I suggest you photograph grannies silver and then sell it for sake of new car. Junk/need. Anyway that is how I roll. When I need money, stuff goes, I take photo to remember.

Augh Diane, Diane, Diane,
The car runs great! KRP loves the car. She stole it from me truly she did. Long story short her truck at the time was a piece of S she kept waking me up almost every morning for something to do with it not starting, it leaking – on it went until I B’d and she says well fine go buy me a new one! Ok what you want? I truck with four doors not to big not too small. I went down and bought the Pre Runner I have now. She drives it two blocks and says – I don’t like it. Why? Cause it drives like a truck! Yikes.
I woke up the next morning and all the stuff out of my Camry was in the truck and the Camry was gone. I liked my Camry dang and that is why I have a truck and not the Camry LOL.
Billy fixed the door not opening and I have since gotten out the old dolly’s and hammers and tapped out the rest etc so now there are just a few small spots that need a tad of touch up paint – good to go now 🙂 See the auto body and paint classes I took in Junior College years ago finally paid off.

Ok ok ok, get rid of KRP. The Diane has spoken. (is she like….super big? maybe keep this between us.)
kmilyun
Oh my LOL Diane,
We are keeping the car, I am keeping KRP and get rid of Grandma’s stuff! NO WAY!! It goes to my niece when I am gone. That is the way it is suppose to go – generation to next generation and so on – along with the story behind each item if it is known.

No, no, no! Don’t listen to Diane! Old family stuff definitely goes in the “keep” pile. A car with dings and scratches has character!
kmilyun
In my world too – cars gain character and Grandmas stuff stays.

Ha – you guys are killing me. Yeah, Diane, I’m calling you cold! Grandma’s stuff is sacred — at least in my world.
kmilyun
Ya! Grandma’s, Great grandma’s, Grandpa’s, Great-father’s . … my Grandmother’s hope chest silver ware came across the sea and landed on Ellis Island with her folks. My other Grandfather worked extra hours to buy my Grandmother some of her pieces during the depression for their anniversary. …
No car scratched or not is worth that -IMHO – yah sacred
