I Need Retreading
OK I already feel like a retread LOL but . …
Long story short – the washer over flowed (the old one) awhile ago resulting in pushing the stairway carpet over the deep end (pun?). It dried out stretched out and we both kept tripping – not good – it is hard enough for me on normal terms but stretched out – now way. So we pulled it all up. Nothing says YUK louder than an uncarpeted stairway. But we spent the money on a new washer and dryer instead of carpet. No carpet – you find out who your true friends are.
My folks had a leak and the insurance company replaced the damaged hallway and since the living room carpet would not match they replaced that too. Yeah for us! The carpet was one year old and they buy good grade (better than we could ever afford). So I mooched the carpet. I still had tack strips and padding left over from the bedroom
Twenty years ago I did the stairs and the upstairs in a day – umm not anymore but, I did make some progress. KRP finally got the hang of using the square to measure straight pieces so she cut the carpet out while I layed the tack strips and pad. Then I carpeted.
The start of a long day:
And here is where I ran out of gas . …
I only poked myself four times with the tack strip before going to the store and buying a new pair of work gloves.
I only stapled my boot soul once – oops – at least I did not hit skin – before taking the gun apart and fixing it.
Catfish hates the noise the electic staple gun I use to tack down the padding.
Annie thinks rolls of carpet need to be unrolled.
KRP now knows how to use a square.
We are all still alive but tired – the stairs are on their way to being retreaded.
Restart
Sometimes my mind clears enough that I figure out some stuff. On the top of my list of annoyances was that the desktop I use most of the time would not do a shutdown (warm) it would lock up and hours later ask if I wanted windows to start fixing or start normal. Start normal the only choice that ended up with the computer starting up but creates many fragmented clusters . Very annoying when getting an update that required a restart. I had to say no I will restart later and then go to the start and select shutdown. Wait for the computer to shut down and then hit the restart button on top and restart it – pain in the arse.
I know this one really I do – why is it doing this. I have ignored it for months. Ok it hits me DUH the shut down wait time is too short for all the stuff I have added to shut down properly. YEAH brain! Go to reregit, find the key, change the time and YES we have lift off – or in this case restart. Amazing what waiting a few more seconds will do.
Now I am on a roll feeling mighty smart LOL. Next on the list create a custom avatar to show for all the blogger peeps without gravatars. Blogger avatars only show on blogger blogs not wordpress. So custom fuction:
add_filter( 'avatar_defaults', 'newgravatar' );
function newgravatar ($avatar_defaults) {
$myavatar = get_bloginfo(‘template_directory’) . ‘/images/bitr.jpg’;
$avatar_defaults[$myavatar] = “BITR”;
return $avatar_defaults;
}
?>
Strange that self hosted wordpress sites do not import blogger avatars. Then again I set up a blogger account so that my avatar shows on blogger sites and kind of wonder why blogger folks do not set up a gravatar? Or maybe my gravatar code is broken?
I am going to go read some geek stuff before my brain slips back into it’s fog.
Reflections
Oh yeah I so have nothing better to do LOL.
This really is a photo of my reflection on the little roller ball in the mouse thingy. I know not much excitement around here if I am doing this no?
I get so freaking irritated when I try to take photos now. Ekk gads I have always used my left eye in the view finder and since it is sort of out to lunch as of late I have been trying to use my right eye. Now this at first might sound no big deal bt for whatever reason it is. Maybe it is like the mouse upside down thing I dunno . …
So right eyed, full manual settings (except white balance) and here you have it – reflection of kmilyun in dah rollerball.
I keep humming that song . … reflections of the way things used to be . …
