This little guy/gal was buzzing around the bathroom tonight while I was trying to bathe. Annoying as these winged bugs are the are fun to watch as the flutter about.
Now you know I had to catch it and take it’s picture. I perfect portrait of a bug opportunity does not come everyday you know.
The next shot I planned to take was of its wings- but it flew off. I guess the temporary stun of being slid onto a piece of paper after being chased with a cup had worn off.
Since KRP so nicely ate Tommy Tomato the other morning I figured the least I could do was wake her up and show her this great shot. I even zoomed in on the eyes for the full effect LOL.
I was actually going to write a post tonight but since the crane fly (I call them mosquito eaters) decided to join me I went for the photo blurb again.
The details are easier to see in the larger version here. The eyes are interesting in a mathematical way.
The white rectangles are the reflection of my speedlights I did not have time to figure out the setup as to not get them. I did not want to kill the darn thing because it was not a ugly spider – now an ugly spider (I don’t squish daddy longs spiders) I would squish with no problem. So much for equality among the bugs in my world.

Fantastic shot! I love the grean and yellow refraction around the compound lenses. The white spots make me think the poor guy has cataracts.

After getting flashed a few times I bet he was seeing stars – that perhaps is why he flew off. He is still soaring about upstairs and if I can catch him again I will take him outside to the garden.

OMG!!! Lisa from Brass and Ivory sent me over. I love your crane fly….gorgeous, eh? And by the way, Daddy Long Legs are apparently arachnids, but not spiders – something about them only having a body and a head but no middle (thorax). So not squishing them is a good thing. As for spiders, I encourage them to stay outside and will show them the door should they trespass.

I knew there was a reason that Daddy Longs Legs were nicer LOL. I do feel guilty when I squish the spiders but . …
All other creatures are as nicely as possible show out to the garden bed.
Thank you for stopping by. I do read your blog and enjoy your photos. The microscope camera setup you have is nice. I just have a 1:1 macro lens right now so that is about as close as I can get.
Our world is such an interesting place explore from the stars and infinite space to the microscopic.
