Up On the Roof
This morning I managed to drag my arse out of bed at 6:30a.m. Those of you who know me are aware that me awake and moving prior to 8:30a.m. is nothing short of miraculous. I am a space flight fan – yeah I know some of you are anti space exploration – as a kid I loved anything and everything about the Apollo Rockets and the lunar rover. The grainy black and white transmission from the first moon landing enthralled me as a child. It still does.
The end of the NASA Space Shuttle program – an end to an era – saddens me. So, how could I not take advantage of heading up to a helipad atop on of Sacramento’s buildings? I could not! It is a rare to be allowed access to the top of a city building anymore. The last helipad I was on was atop the Renaissance Tower post 9/11. A few of us returned to our long standing once a week lunch up there only to be interrupted by folks in full Armour because someone from another building called us in as terrorists . … So when the invitation was offered yesterday afternoon I jumped on it! A couple of the folks up there this morning were past co-workers and it was fun to catch up with them. All the surrounding buildings had people on the helipads or on the top levels of the parking garages.
The shuttle came out of the southern horizon flew over the capitol building made a circle and came back from the northern horizon. It still amazes me how something as large as a 747 can fly let alone one with a space shuttle piggy backed on it. I toured the Boeing plant and watched workers building 747’s and came away remembering how huge they were and wondering what would happen if a worker missed a few rivets.
Well around 20 of us courtesy of the building manager sat atop the building and took photos of the people atop near by buildings as they took pictures of us LOL. Then the 747, Endeavour piggybacked, along with the military escort became a faint dot in the horizon.
A few of the shots I took:

Well, I got up early, made it up the stairs for the last few floors where the elevator ride ended, waited for the Endeavor and it’s 747 ride, I am now headed off to take a nap!
Just Hanging
thought I had better type something here lest you all think I crawled into a hole and croaked.
A summation of the last few weeks:
met with our city council representative, the head of the South Sac police command, and a district director . …
the stolen u hau l truck that was involved in a high speed chase, stopped by spike strips, well the woman arrested and the u hau l were next door most of the month.
lots of loud music, yelling, fights etc. just what you think you would hear and find in the ghetto.
The heat is doing what the heat does to many of us so I have been spending a lot of time reading and game playing
Someone was trying to break into our wireless connection so rather that continue to fend of the invaders constant attempts I just turned it the freak off.
Oh so lovely dealing with the heat and ex felons and gangsters . ….
We are thinking of just throwing in the towel and heading to a bankruptcy type lawyer and seeing what we can do. The only way we can get the heck outta here will force this . …

Discs N Taters and Gallery Test Two
Friday I managed to make a pot o beans. I mixed up a few different varieties heavy on the Cranberry beans. I soaked them over night so I was pretty much committed to making them. I started with adding a splat or two of mustard and then a tad of this and that. While I was looking at the counter I spied the bag of dried cranberries we had picked up at the fruit stand – ummm – cranberry beans and cranberries – made sense to me. So I grabbed a hand full or so and dropped them in.
Taste, and taste again. Hummm, these sure would be great baked! Added a bit of molasses and cooked them down. Popped the Dutch Oven into the electric oven and baked them. Ok, not to toot my own horn but they were delicious. It has been awhile since I have gotten the old Dutch Oven out and made a pot so I was pleased.
This evening we used them in our taco’s. It was an interesting taste. Sweet baked beans and all the usually taco fixings. I was rather skeptical at first putting sweet baked beans in a taco but they were not all that bad – not super great but tasty.
I sat down late this evening and made another video. Sometimes I just come up with some silly hair brained idea that I think might be funny or entertaining. If nothing else it give me something to do.
So here is the video:
Ok another try and another test trying to find a good plug-in that will allow me to place to photo galleries in one post. Since the last update of WP the method I had been using stopped working. So tell me what you think of the method?
This should show only the ducks and geese
this one should show only the Gulls
