Birds at Sunset

Here we go. Pictures from this evenings venture out. Not the best, not the brightest, not coolest, just the ones I liked because I never could get shots like this with the other camera. None of them have been altered except the size I used automatic settings on the camera. I have noticed the darker areas around the corners emmm will have to see what does this. The first one is almost full zoom I finally can see features from afar. LOL It is a bit blurry cause I turned around and just took the pic when I heard them.

As the sun went down (and the temp too in a big hurry) I took this by guessing where the sun would line up. Too bright for the eye balls to look at through the view finder. This it what I got.

Last shot before fingers became to darn frooze.

Earlier in the eve I walked out on a platform on a pond like area. It was still froozen over for the most part. As I walked on the little dock like platform the vibration would crack the ice. It rippled across the body of water making a hushed tingling noise that expanded as it moved outward. You could look down and watch the trapped air bubbling up to the bottom of the ice layer. In some areas the smooth surface had been cracked and small chunks of ice glistened in the light.

I tried to capture this but the pics did not catch the beauty of it. πŸ™ I do for no particular reason like this ice chunk:

Now is the time for all nice photographers to tell me what to do to make em better.

I have a Nikon Camera and not fing Battery Charger WTF

Ok as you can tell from the title I am a bit pissed. I try to stay away from WTF and fing if I can resist. In this case I can not.

I went out and bought a NikonΒ  camera. Nothing bad about Nikon or the camera here as I can not use the freaking thing cause the a hole at the store did not put the charger back into the box. I mean hello???? I spent way too much money there after all and you are to wrapped up in your girl friend in the back to put the charger back in? Yes, it was close to closing and yes their was a couple hoovering in hopes that I would not buy the last D80 in the joint LOL but I specifically asked it comes with the charger right? he says yes it is in the box. Ok so after purchase everything is in the box right? Yes I put it all in there for you. AUGH

So now I have a camera a new lens for it and two 1 gig mem cards and I can not take very many pics as the battery is like dead man – camera shop language for the dense old ladies like me who think a guy ought to check after being asked twice and old enough to kick myself in the place my feet don’t reach for not checking myself!

Well, off to load the software and pretent LOL I can not decide waste bat power on playing with menu’s or take pics emmmm……

A special thanks to Karoli (Drumsnwhistles) at odd time signatures for all her help and support she gave me in making my final selection. I can not thank her enough . … πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Wildlife Viewing

Today we braved the cold temps and a wind that cut through us like ice and walked about the wildlife area. The wind was wicked I mean nasty cold wicked. Did I mention the ice cold wind?

The adventure started out as an opportunity to once again try and get a decent photo of something living. We walked and waited, walked and waited, never did one of the wonderful birds come close enough for me to get a picture where they were more than blurry dots on the water. The trails are nice but the access areas that allow you to get close enough without a good lense are all closed off right now. So, cold and getting miserable I waited with the patience of what can only be described as close to a saint LOL. A nice young couple set up their camera’s next to us and within five mins had some wonderful shots. I guess that is what Canon EOS and Nikon D70’s will do for you when equipted with those long beautiful lenses. The guy asked if I had gotten any good shots. I said no. πŸ™

I played with the settings, I used the bracketing mode, I tried everything. The water is lovely dark blue but the sky is dull gray in some shots. In others there is the evil purple haze. Anyway, we came across a large white crane. This crane played us. Slowly approach, set up the tripod, and the crane moves about 10 to 30 feet away. Repeat this process of few times and decide the crane has won. We start walking around and the crane starts following us until we stop and even so much as act like we are going to take a picture, only to half fly half skip behind something.

clicky clicky

Eventually the crane flew away and I went back to watching the ducks in hope that one or two of them might swim close enough to become more than a blur on the water.

About an hour later we head back to the parking lot. I get a cup of coffee and start to put everything away. Now I am sure you have figured out that the crane comes walking through the parking lot and stares, I swear it stared, straight at me. The gauntlet was thrown down. I get the camera back of the truck seat and point it at him/her. See ya! I followed it down the walkway and it stopped long enough to get this shot.

I once again bound and determined to not loose this battle waited at the edge of the parking lot and the pathway. Now I did mention how awful cold it was and the wind did I not? I stood there, and stood there and stood there. Now I realize that this is not the greatest picture in the world but I at least caught a bit of his/her tail feathers eh? And that makes me the winner even though the pictures are not very good LOL.
