Big Red Truck
An old joke:
A woman called 911 and told the dispatcher she needed the fired department to come because there was a fire. The dispatcher asked her where the fire was at and she said in my kitchen. Ok what is the location of the fire? The lady says I told you! In my kitchen. The dispatcher says: yes but we need the location where the fire is at. The lady screams I told you it is in my kitchen in my house. The dispatcher then says: Ok, lady calm down, How do we get there?? The lady says: DUH in the big red truck.
We have a 311 number here that you call and an operator directs your call to the right department. Police, fire, code enforcement, water, power, etc. . All the over flowing water calls to 311 have probably gotten us listed on their pest list LOL. So I am reluctant to place another call.
The juvenile delinquents were out hanging around the carport this afternoon. All I overheard was boom, bang, that would be righteous . … when KRP came home she asked me if I had seen the next door neighbors car. No why. Well she has a big rag or something stuffed into the gas tube. Ugh? Say what? I go out and look and sure enough the car looks like it is a giant Molotov cocktail. Yikes that might be what the punk kids were talking about.
Now what do I do. I mean how can one sleep knowing that the kids were by the car laughing and saying boom, bang and how great it was going to be and well the car is rigged to go up in a blaze of glory. I could park our vehicles out in the street but if the kids did light it and it did go off well . …
I sure am not calling 311 again. The gal is totally p’d at me because I asked her to get the laundry off our fence and she is totally paranoid. I tried one non emergency number and the dispatcher thought it was definitely dangerous but was not sure what to do or who to call other than to try the non emergency PD # -after waiting on hold for 20 mins I decided they were obviously having a busy night so I hung up.
Well, I swear I never ever thought I would do something like this but we drove to the fire department. Explained the problem and why we did not wish to call 311 again LOL. The Captain knew our complex well and the kind of kids that hang around in here. Believe it our not – he told us to head out and he would be over to check it out soon. He then called in and as we were leaving we overheard him placing the call as an unsafe hazzard reported by a walk in. Gosh we got home parked went into the house expecting the fire Captains SUV to roll in soon and we sure did not want to be out there when it did.
OK NOT they sent the BIG RED TRUCK!!!
The rag is no longer in her gas tank inlet.
