Surveillance. What’s Next?

I am old enough to remember walking down the street, shopping, going to library, talking on the phone, and eating out without being under some sort of surveillance. Now, when at a public restroom I find myself wondering if someone is watching me. Stores monitoring for shoplifters or a governmental agency obtaining permission to tap the phone lines of known criminals appear nondetrimental.

Scanning fans faces at a Super Bowl as they passed through the entrance and checking the images against a database for wanted criminals primed the public on the capabilities of video monitoring. Tiananmen Square cameras used to identify and arrest demonstrators prove that cameras are used for purposes other than they were originally intended.

The FISA US CODE Info. courts allow for immediate implementation of wiretaps without court orders as long as such requests are cleared by the FISA courts within 72 hours after they have been placed.. It seems that our Executive Branch has decided to do what they want. Like video surveillance, I now wonder, who is listening to me. Currently the wiretaps are hopefully being used predominately to monitor terrorist activities. Remember this may not always be so.

I also need to point out, if the governments automated systems software can still only provide the most general markers for them to monitor electronic transmissions (chatter), that this post may be monitored.

First Blog Spamoid was From

I will not give the sites name because that would increase there google power. The first spam this site recieved was from an organization that promotes hate. I am glad they are using their freedom of speech via print but the links they sent were purely anti something pro something if you can get the drift. Anyway at least I got something LOL

I was hoping that my online friends would post here or at least suggest a topic they would like to discuss. O well. Figuring out the world of blogging is kind of fun.

I spent most of today watching the news, playing with my dogs, and reading about WordPress and PHP. It was foggy this morning and I never really became motivated enough to venture outside.

Ate the chicken soup I made yesterday and now I am ready to eat again, get a book, and fall asleep. Catfish is in playing with his stuffed toy “duck” and Annie is downstairs ever hopeful that someone will throw her ball.

Pat Roberstson- Stuck in the Old Testament

Just because a person claims to be, a Christian does not mean they follow the teachings of Christ. Christians theoretically follow the teachings of Christ. Pat Robertson seems to be stuck in the First Covenant between God and man. The Second Covenant, The New Testament, does not seem to support his comments. The word “testament” means “agreement”, God establishes a “New Agreement” with us through Jesus Christ.

In the Old Testament, those who waged war in God’s name were called His children, but now those who wage peace are His children.

However, some rebel and protest the part of our “New Agreement” with God over turning the other cheek and allowing us to be wronged. “You have heard it said, “an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.” “But I say to you, do not resist him who is evil, but whoever slaps you on the right cheek turn to him the other also. (Matthew 5:38)
Pat Robertson’s latest comments regarding Ariel Sharon are not in keeping with the New Testament.

“If you do not forgive those who sin against you,” Jesus said, “your Father will not forgive your sins” Matthew 6:15.

“Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone hits you on the cheek, offer them the other cheek. If someone takes your cloak, don’t stop him taking your tunic. Give to everyone who begs, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you. After all, if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them” Luke 6:27-32.

These were just some of my silly thoughts on the subject today. I am betting that the news commentaries, bloggers and personal web sites will go on and on about this for quit sometime. . .

Council for National Policy

Ever heard of the Council for National Policy?

The council was founded in 1981. The Rev. Tim LaHaye, an early Christian conservative organizer and the best-selling author of the “Left Behind” novels about an apocalyptic Second Coming, was a founder. His partners included Paul Weyrich, another Christian conservative political organizer who also helped found the Heritage Foundation. It operates as a tax-exempt educational organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Membership is by invitation only. ,

The CNP is a instrument of the Religious Right. Its agenda appears to support an expansionistic and authoritarian government with a goal of global domination. Pushing a secular agenda and claiming that they are conservatives holding traditional values, most of them (those with you can find information associating them to the CNP) are born again Christians with extremist views.

The Left Behind novels are based on verses from the Holy Bible, particular verses selected mostly from Genesis. According, true believers are lifted heaven where they get to watch everyone else left on earth getting tortured. I realize many believe every word of the gospel down to each letter. I believe that a historical perspective considering the context of the period it was written is necessary for me.

Since the author of the “Left Behind” series was a founder of the CNP it would follow that the organization holds the same beliefs. What if the members of this organization believe that it is their duty to hasten or insure the rapture? They need to see certain biblical foretold in the Bible come to fruition. They need a war in the Middle East against Islam, a total Jewish occupation of the Holy Land, and then infidels need to conquer the area.

Sounds frightening familiar to me with the present day policies in Iraq and the Israeli and Palestinian territorial problems, it makes me wonder.

Here is the web site for the The Council for National Policy Site. Better yet, do a web search and learn more about the CNR and the Relgious Rights agenda and how they tie into present politics.
