Example: Mom Not Allowed

Here I offer up a prime example of why my mother is NOT allowed in our house. She comes from a long line of perfect moms. Item one a quote from my cousins blog about my Aunt:

It is again the dreaded “holiday season”. To me this usually means trying to attain my mother’s level of perfection: beautifully decorated home, 25 different kinds of homemade cookies and candies, complete homemade meals every evening (which is no different than any other time of year for her), handwritten cards out by December 5, a mountain of gifts purchased and wrapped by December 5.

The only difference is my mom is older than my aunt. She has had more practice at perfection.

  1. LOL, that’s good enough for me. My mom isn’t that way, but my mother-in-law is. This year at Christmas she gave Bigdog a set of kitchen knives with the somewhat snarky declaration that since HE did the majority of the cooking, she gave them to him.

Well, that’s not exactly true, but she’s affronted that any son of hers would do ANY cooking, and so made the statement loud and clear.

Most of my house has clutter like what you pictured. She tells me that I just don’t “see it”. I tell her I see it just fine; I just ignore it for the sake of a happy home.

If she weren’t such a really nice person at heart I’d take this stuff more personally than I do, but I’m really glad I don’t have to get this stuff from my mom, who has more stuff than me in more nooks and crannies than me – stuff that really she should have gotten rid of about 30 years ago.
