Purple Harley Picture Made Explore

There are times when I just shake my head in bewilderment. This is another one of those times.

Most of you are aware that I started posting some of my photos on flickr. The world has Karoli at odd time signatures to blame for this LOL. I did so because it looked fun and I wanted to get honest feedback on my pictures, hoping that I might just learn a few things and get better.

One point I have learned is photos are similar to antiques – you know – one person’s junk is another’s treasure. Features of Flickr the “interestingness” and “Explore” pages have always intrigued me. They are setup using mysterious algorithms to decide what photos are interesting and which are worthy of making the front page of explore. Needless to mention is the fact that my photos are not seen on these pages LOL. Except two that have managed to make the lower end of the interestingness.

The first one is a picture of a goose on the water. It never was one of my favorite shots – still is not but it made to the top 500 list. Today I discovered that one of my purple shots has made the grade hahahha … it too is not one of my favorites. In fact, I used it in the purple contest because I just got tired of trying to come up with a better idea. The shot is riddled with problems – to me anyway? Umm. … so those of you who took the time to read my purple posts are now up to date.

Here is the shot that made it:
Purple Glow After the Ride

Now mind you I am not complaining I just can not figure out why two pictures have made it and all the one I think a spiffy never have LOL!

Enlighten me!

  1. I can’t explain why the ones you think are cool haven’t gotten there, but I can explain this one — it really IS interesting. Between the color, the lighting, the little bits of reflection smattered around it, it draws the viewer in and asks to be clicked to a larger view. It’s got a nice DOF and it’s a Harley. Harleys end up on Explore all the time. I would never actually get on one and ride it because I’m a giant chicken in women’s clothing, but I admire them just the same. From a design standpoint of course. ๐Ÿ˜‰
