I guess this is another catch up post. Lots going on that I thought about writing about but never got around to doing so.
First I am getting over a UTI. Many of us know all about that subject – so enough said . … Webster @ halt stop forget relax has a great post up today that covers the B and B problems much better than I ever could that you should all head over and read.
I am still mulling the subject of blogging and social networks around in my mind. I have solved my RSS reader issues with a temporary solution. I made a new folder and put the blogs I consider my fav’s into it. The rest are still in the reader but in a different folder that I can ignore when I am mentally not up to reading them. I suppose we all have those blogs in our readers? The ones where we just can not delete them but no longer enjoy reading them? I imagine mine is hanging around in a few of them too. I have finally hit the point where I no longer give a rats arse if my posts are grammatically correct or timely. I am not sure if they ever were anyway. Muffie @Kaleidoscope Muff has a thoughtful post that ties into some of my thoughts. And yes, it much better written than I can pull off anymore.
Before I wander off to another train of thought … oops I lost my thoughts there . … you might have noticed my use of links to other blogs so far in this post. Why? Well a long long time ago it was considered a big deal to link to someone else s blog. Back when links provided “juice” to a blogs ranking. Now we have all the social networks and cross posting that many do that covers most of that business. So, consider this: it is a compliment when I do so and I really wanted to share someones post with those of you who read this blog still and might have missed their post.
I have another Big Red Truck story for you all. We once again (that is the royal we BTW) played the role of crash test dummy for Billy and headed for the VA in San Francisco. The trip to SF was uneventful. It was the trip back that got interesting. The Yolo causeway during rush hour is the areas whatever you do _DO NOT BREAK DOWN- spot. As we were about half way across we heard a strange noise, the truck started moving funny, and then the smell of burning rubber. OH NO! Must be a flat? Billy got over into the right hand emergency strip that was not wide enough for the truck to be completely out of the traffic lane and started to try and figure out how to get out and look and see what the problem was. Non of the tires was flat. This is not a good thing.
I told him you better limp off to the next ramp or the police will be here and they will tow you ASAP. He sort of rolled his eyes like give me a break. Well . … he finally got out and started to take a look and a highway patrol car pulled up behind us. I admit at this point I was torn. Bad because if he did not get moving off the roadway I knew a tow would be called and good because the patrol car had all those nice lights on making the situation much more safe. Before the officer finished running the plates Billy had tossed something into the back of the truck, waved the we are oK to the patrolman, and got back into the truck and started to drive off. Turns out the big red truck’s leaf spring had come apart and one of the pieces twisted into the tire. AUGH!! Strange ride home after that as my mind was still stuck on this is scary part. We got home safe and he did whatever mechanics do to the truck . …
Next item. Annie dog slammed the dang front door on my hand – ouch – so glad for numb appendages right now because looking at it I can tell you I bet it really hurts more than it does! Mr Catfish celebrated his 9th birthday yesterday. Because his diet is restricted now I compromised and mixed in some mashed potato’s into his super. He was convinced he was king! Spent most of yesterday after class reading and playing with him on the bed. Not that that is unusual but I did play more with him and read less. 🙂 He now has exceeded the vets estimates of retaining his health so it was especially a good day. Other than the door thing.
Well covered most of what I intended to cover I think.
Muff
Thank you, Jan! What a nice shout-out. But holy crapoli, you had your share of troubles! Ouchie to the UTI — never had one, but my mother gets a lot. Then the scary ride! I don’t know the highway of which you spoke, but we have our own killer roads here, and too many folks have been hurt or worse, getting out of their cars. What’s a ‘leaf spring?’ Loved the part about the doggies — not your hand,of course, but the treats and cuddles.
Peace,
Muff

Ok bad photo but picture is better than trying to explain what the heck a leaf spring is.
click to get larger and the arrow points to the spring on my truck
I enjoy your posts so keep it up!
Doggie cuddles are always a good thing!
Muff
I’m laughing here — I have noooo idea what’s under a car or truck! Thank you for taking the time to explain to me. I did click to enlarge and still said “Huh?” What I know about mechanics would fit on the head of a pin!
kmilyun
Well all you really need to know is if someone tells you yours has decided to part company with your vehicle it probably is not a good thing and they are not fun to replace.
Webster
Thanks for the link, Jan. I got a lot of traffic drive by’s. lol
P.S. you should have seen my first draft. It was horrible! But I figured that if I was going to write about it, I might at least try to do it well. I think I got my main points across. Hope I didn’t scare too many newbies!
As for your UTI- Glad you’re getting over it. Have you tried cranberry capsules to acidify things? Pure cranberry juice tastes nasty. Very sour. Cranberry juice cocktails don’t have enough cranberry juice in them to do much.
So what you’re left with, of course, is to drink more water.
Oh, I just crack myself up!
kmilyun
You did great! not an easy subject to write about.
Oh yeah the pure cranberry juice is sour. I was drinking and taking cranberry pills at the time. One of those well now what the heck went wrong here deals.
My doc said it was possible the swimming in the cold arse weather in a warm pool and not getting dried off fast could have contributed. I asked after a couple of other MSr’s said they got UTI’s after swimming in chlorinated water.
I am thinking spring break (I was not as active) and I did not drink enough water.
and you crack me up sometimes
Sherry
I hate UTI’s almost more than I hate marshmallows which is saying a lot. LOL.
Webster cracks me up!
I hope you get to feeling better soon!
kmilyun
Marsh-mellows? I like em when made into those rice crispy treats. Now when they are in the form of those Easter ducks oh yeah peeps – I shout yuk. Ok I hate UTI’s almost more than soup served with fish eyes staring at me or octopus atop rice – and that is saying a lot. Basically any so called foods that stare at me.
I am feeling way better today – whew.
I am sure Webster will find something humorous or snarky to say here 🙂
webster
Here’s lookin’ at you, kid.
Speaking of Peeps, you must check out Peepsresearch.com . It’s a very scientific study about those little chicks. You’ll love it.
kmilyun
Ok it took me a second but I got from peepsresearch . com to dot org worked just a tad better that ways off reading now
kmilyun
ha I confess to nuking the little rascals myself as it seemed – well the right thing to do LOL LOL
Donna
UTI, breakdown on Lolo during rush-hour while being a crash test dummy (always laugh at that), and a smashed hand. So, what else do you do for fun? :0
About the UTI, I think chlorine from the pool could be the culprit. When I did lap swimming regularly, I took a cranactin every day for preventative measure. It seemed to help. I also had a swim instructor who wouldn’t get in the pool when she was pregnant for fear of a UTI and having to take antibiotics. She said it was pretty accepted amongst the female instructors and swim team that chlorine was evil to women for that reason.
Well, on that note I’ll sign out and say have a nice evening! 🙂
kmilyun
yes I took the information to heart and asked my PCP she agreed. I like to swim but I am more afeared (i know not a word) of another UTI so it is not on my list of classes to take next semester. We shall see . …
And I am telling you the leaf spring adventure was a bit much LOL but it is the first time the big red truck has let us down so I guess it is what it is. But dang it I sure hope it never happens again!
Donna
The truck adventure sounded scary. I used to commute across 520 between Seattle and Bellevue — it’s an old floating bridge with no shoulder. So, a flat tire or break down would back up traffic for miles. I had my ancient Corolla then and sometimes feared being featured on the news as the culprit who did so!
Thanks for the the pic of the leaf spring. I too was wondering what that was.
As someone who like swimming, darn. Hope you can work something out.
kmilyun
I am hoping that swimming will not be the culprit but right now I am too chicken to find out :0 Maybe this summer I will give it a go at a friends pool that I can use any day I wish – with a box of home self test kits on hand that is.
Yes with all the traffic cams and helicopters it would be hard to deny and embarrassing as heck.
