Birthday Computer
The past week has been strange. Dear Godson showed up out of the blue – picked up his package without saying a word – according to KRP he did not say anything – not even hello or good-bye – not one word – umm . … maybe someday he will let us know where he ends up.
Our friends (more like members of our chose extended family) Michele, Cara, and little Alex took a trip down south to Mexico to visit Alex’s paternal Grandmother. While they were gone I spent some time messing around with computer’s with my pal Mike. Mike and I are alike in many ways so when we do stuff together it can get interesting. We tend to end up irritating the heck out of each other because we are so much alike. So computer building is a big B feast! LOL But we do have fun.
Mike bought a new case and we were trying to hook up a new mother board etc. I think between both of us we might have half a good hand and we both are drain bramaged it seems. When I left him it was somewhere between the f word and the b word. He told me later that he took the new mother board back and put his old mother board into the new case.
Another event was my birthday. The past few years I have not done this day well. I do not get bummed about getting older but I do for whatever reason get in a funk because the little kid in me gets pissed that I am unable to buy myself a new toy. Aah, childish but true.
The end of this week was brighter than than the first part. My friend Miky came over and we went to dinner. It was fun and we had quite a few laughs. My parents also took KRP and I out for a birthday dinner. A couple of nights going out and getting home late sort of wore me out. It was worth it but pooped out is pooped out.
Saturday night Michele and Mike invited us over for – yep another birthday dinner. So I am very well fed this week. Cara made potato taco’s and Michele picked up a ice cream cake – YUM. Just before we sat down to eat Mike asked me to come into his office/computer room. He showed me all the stuff he got squared away on his new computer and then passed me a wireless keyboard. While he was pecking away on his keyboard setting stuff up on his computer he told me to type in a user name and password. I thought it was rather odd that he would have me enter a name and password into his computer but figured Ok what the heck. Then I noticed that the screen background was different and was trying to figure out how two keyboards were hooked up to one computer when Mike pointed over to his old computer case and said there that one is yours.
Not the sharpest tack anymore I was thinking wow he is giving me his old case how cool! It is a cool case. Then Mike says something about hurry up and type in your password I Haven’t got all night. Eh? Then I noticed there were lights on in the old case and as I looked closer I finally noticed that it was a complete tower. My friend Mike had just given me his old computer! Not any old computer but a pretty kick arse one. WOW.
Well I guess that explains why I am up at 4a.m. typing this out. I had to get it hooked up and play with it! A little bit of cable management to go yet but here are the specs I know now:
i7 CPU
9GB DDR3 triple channel
MoBo MSI X58 Pro E
(2 ) Nvidia GeForce GTX 275
HD audio 7.1 on board
and some cool looking blue led fans in a nice black and silver computer case
