The Rain The Cat and The Moon
Rain, wind, gray skies, and then some more . …
Saturday KRP, Miky, and I headed out to check out the river water levels. There is one spot along Hwy160 (the river road) that I use as kind of a gauge on how close to over flow we really are. Not too bad this time as we could still drive down to the lower levy. I was taking photos from the car window has it was too nasty and wet out. Lots of gloomy gray shots.
There was a slight break in the rain and I did get out and snap a couple off before the rain started again. Looking down the old tracks it sort of looked like this truck was driving toward me on the tracks. It took my slow pea brain of few secs before it registered that it was parked in a small paved area. Ok duh.
Then I spent a few mins talking to this feral cat and yes JAKE we left some food behind for it although he/she seemed to be catching enough river rats to maintain.
I then annoyed the others by working my way under the bridge ha ha I made it and did not fall into the river.
It stopped raining Sunday evening so I attached the Tokina lens and focused on the moon. The lens is ok at this only because of its 400mm but my 70-300 Nikon produces more detail I think. Hard to really judge fairly because where I was shooting (the back yard) there is a lot of ambient light to interfer with the exposure.
Well I guess I am all caught up and the highlights of my weekend.
Tis the Season for Red and Green
I attended out MS support groups annual Christmas party.
This year we did not have it in a hall but rather at a Denny’s. Ok, nothing against Denny’s but . …
If you set up two rows of tables parrallel to each other and everyone who shows up early sits at one and the four folks who only show up 15 mins early end up at the other it might occur to whom ever that the folks at the empty table might feel a tad left out of the loop? Especially when the only way over to the other table is blocked by the restraunt folks at one end and wheelchairs at the other? We ever so appreciated not knowing what the heck you all were saying, what you thought was so funny. So one table lined both sides with happy campers – the other empty save the four. Two of whom chose to set at the opposite end from the other two. You probably by now have figured out that I was one of the four?
Last years party was fun! This years sucked to be me. Sucked to be one of the other three.
I am generally social inept.
Gotta wonder when you end up feeling left out in a room full of people who claim they always feel left out.
My friend and I did have fun quietly giggling about the dynamics of the situation. My friend D gave me a cute little snowman ornament. My partner in banishment and I opened all the unused party favors bags on our tables and took out all our favorite candies and put them into our bags. Our private revolt. Then when the gifts were being passed out and folks finally figured out we were over “there” I ended up with the table decoration poinsettia and a cup with cocco mix (I gave this to a young couple who arrived right at the end with their little girl whom globbed onto the bright colors in the cup).
I took a macro shot of the poinsettia last night. I should have taken a few more but I kept falling as close to asleep as you can and still be awake.
Here is the shot I did take before heading off to bed.
This evening I put on the 50mm and shot – maybe one will work out for a seasonal header image.
Though The Trees
I spent most yesterday pissed off. They slashed more tires in the hood going down the street we saw another 6 vehicles with two or three flats. I hope they catch these fools soon.
It was a windy and rainy day. I did get out an tried to catch the sunset light rays as they made the tree leaves look almost translucent.
I probably should have used the tripod as when I looked up the wind would cause me to tilt and then I started getting kind of dizzy. Leaves whipping around in the wind swirling all around me – yes, Winter weather has come early.
Last night I became facinated with all the webcams that CalTrans has. Interstate 80 was closed from from Applegate to the Nevada/Calif state line. Looking at the Hwy with no traffic and watching the snow fall – I have no idea why this amused me so? It usually does not snow like this and as low an elevation as it did this early in the season. Glad I have power and not snowed in.
I am such a valley whimp.
I bougth a little security camera on sale. It came with 100ft of cable. So even if the camera sucks the price was worth the cable alone. When the weather calms down I will need to figure out where to mount it so that it captures the carport. It hopefully will save me from going outside in my jammies to check on ever little noise. The area is the only one we can not see from any window or peep hole. Then I will have to route the cable and figure out where to have it enter the upstairs.
Then I will move onto coputer cards so I can store the video on a drive.
Systems are just to dang expensive so I figure why not try to create my own?
Right now I have the camera working via the television and watching Catfish sleep – sigh. I might just end up watching the trees if I can not get it mounted somewhere LOL
Tree Security!
