Ok another post about – well – err – nothing much as that is what goes on around here much of the time.
The title of this blog was chosen as a joke back at a friend that started when I was reading one (yes he has more than one) doctorate thesis paper (or whatever you call em) any way I could not remember what bifurcate meant and he and his wife my friend Shelley (she died of lung cancer in 2011) teased me about it. I really do not have a solid written in stone purpose for this blog.
I mentioned in a comment on a blog that I have not been able to just hit the delete button on this blog – I mean it really is a record of what the “what the heck was I thinking stuff” and my journey through time. Unless something really nasty awful or a data disaster hits I probably will never hit the delete key. Through the years post have disappeared when data became garbled or hackers made it to the database. Things were not as easily secured a few years back – the platform is much improved now.
Many times through the years it has crossed my mind hee hee . …
Now to the what has kmilyun been doing?
Same thing different day is most likely the correct answer. The side path of the month seems to be playing the xbox games. There is one game that I really enjoy playing for lots of reasons.
It challenges my brain to hold onto info. It is one of those games that builds upon what actions/reactions your character has made along the time frame. This means to have any chance of winning I must remember things that other characters have said or done. I have already played two of the trilogy of Mass Effect. The internet chatter is alive with the news that my character no matter what they do is gonna die in this final chapter in the story line. Now that truly really sucks.
If my character walks through a hallway and over hears a statement like “we need to get the plans for . …” I can bet that later one (maybe a few hours of play time) somewhere I will come across the plans for . … and then I need to remember where I over heard the original statement – and if I do – yeah I get a reward if I deliver the goods.
It also is very detailed and the depth of the coding the programming amazes me. Universes, Galaxies, and planets. To win I need to learn and remember a bunch of things about different alien (to earth) races. Their cultures, history, locations of major cities. Are they in galaxy X or? Friend or foe? Can I work it so they will be on my side? Each and every conversion has possibilities – which response gains the most points or good will. It all comes together in order to well win the game LOL.
There really is evidence out there that game playing helps with critical thinking and creative problem solving. Here is a word for yah: A positive stress over a negative – in one word eustress.
The adaptive swim class started up so on Tuesdays and Thursdays I have a long morning. Adaptive PE starts at 11am and then followed by the swim class. The weather has made it rather a pain in the arse really. Since the pool is kept covered and the “normal” swim class before ours seems not to swim when it is rainy looking out there – the cover is on until our teach and her aids uncover it. You end up with too warm of water for me and freaking cold air with a breeze or wind.
I end up doing the too hot now too cold thing the whole class period. Amazing how a few degrees warmer water temps effect my body. Then when I get out it is so freaking cold well . …
Billy’s son my fishing pal Brandon is coming late tonight with his gal Marissa. I am excited about seeing them! Very cool I think that the chose to spend their spring break here with us. I just hope they get here and over the pass safely. Not to be an old worry wart but it might be snowing and the sierra’s can be no joke at times.
That is all I have for now. Mikey just showed up for dinner and then we shall await the arrival of the kiddo’s.
Games
Not much new around here. I have been spending way too much time playing xbox games. But hey, I like to play games so I well – play games :).
Some things have changed in the past few years with gaming. The most noticeable and annoying really is that I can not longer play with hopes of winning on the insane or hardest mode. I am lucky to make it through on normal. This is well, embarrassing. If you are not familiar with gamer scores on xbox live, when you play through a game you earn achievements as you gain points. Some games have things you find (collectables). The harder the game the more weight your achievements hold. Kind of an egotist thing.
On xbox live you have a gamer tag – mine is kmilyun (surprise) ha ha. Anyone you have as a friend can take a look at what your have been playing and the embarrassing part your achievement awards. Hence I now only have one friend at the moment – our Godson Anthony. That way no one sees my scores LOL.
I remember looking at Mass Effect when the game sold for $59.95 and I decided to wait and purchase it when the price came down. I found the game for under 20 bucks and was contently playing it when the xbox took its crash. So, since I had played over half the game I found a used disc at a local game shop. Yeah. I have now finished the game once – and plan to play it again on the hard level.
After finishing the Mass Effect game I spent way too much time trying to get through a level in Gears of War 2. It frustrated me so much a few months back so I had just set it aside. Well hours later I finally won the level! I went on and completed the game.
Now you might notice the theme of the controller is Gears of War. maybe not hah hah …. silly I know.
What I will be doing now to kill time:
Other news: Corkie is doing super fine in her new home. They have gotten all the bugs worked out and she now knows how to signal the I need to go out. She sleeps cuddled up close on the bed, plays with her rope toy, and is gaining some weight. She sure is one smart little girl too. Her forever home is most pleased to have her as an addition . They walk to the mail box each day and she knows her name and comes when called. I hear she has figured out how to avoid tripping her moms, how to avoid getting her leash tangled with the cane and since the other dog is blind she has figured that out too. I love happy endings :).
Forever Home for Little Dog
A couple of weeks ago we noticed that the gal who lived next door had not been around for awhile. Nothing new around here as folks come and go. But then we realized that her little dog was in the backyard. The poor little thing was sometimes without food and water and spent a lot of time whining at the back door. Then a small cold and windy storm came in and the little thing only had a small cat carrier with a by now very wet towel tossed inside for shelter. We tried and tried but could not get the back gate open as it was blocked with garbage cans and other stuff. I finally settled for tossing some dog food over the fence and filling the water bowl over the fence with the garden hose.
A few times the little dog would be out having dug under the fence and I would catch her and squeeze her back through the gap I could open in the gate. Then I would put bricks in the holes she dug. Once in a while we would hear someone over there but never could catch them. Some days the dog was there and others not. The dilemma – how can you call the animal protection to come help the dog when you never no when it will be there? And calling any authority in the neighbor hood is not exactly the safest thing to do because if the people figure out who called – well it usually is not a good thing.
Then at the beginning of last week when KRP came home from work the little dog was out running around and came up to her car door when she started to get out. The dog must have recognized the sound of KRP’s car because she was there to greet her anytime she was next door. Food and water, get the back yard gate pulled open, and put little dog back in the yard. This became the routine. One of us would see her running around and get her and put her back in the yard.
The other morning last week I finally managed to catch the people who were stopping by there. They were apparently doing the best they could trying to watch the place and take care to the dog. The gal who lived there was moving out and apparently was not the greatest at taking care of animals. No? really! . They said the girl was his sister and they had gotten stuck with trying to deal with the dog but between work and all it was just too hard for them. That they new the situation was not fair for the dog. They were trying to do the right thing but . … anyway I suggested that perhaps they might like to find a good home for the little dog. Whew they agreed
I sent the picture in the upper left that a snapped with my phone to a few friends that I knew with the caption “I need a home” and followed up with phone calls. Within hours I had a prospective home. Then the games began. Each time the people were suppose to bring the dog to me so I could take her to my friends they pulled no shows. Once they even told me they had to go get the dog and would be right back. I stayed home all day and they never showed.
We all decided that it was to emotional and well rather crazy so we stopped communicating with them and hoped the little dog would be OK.
Friday when I had just stepped out of the bath the door bell rang. Half dressed I went and peeped through the peephole and saw – oh my the gal that was watching the house holding – yes a little dog! I hollered through the door to hold on and got Catfish and Annie secured and finished dressing. Within five minuets I was in my truck with a little cat carrier and its precious cargo. I zipped out of the complex pulled over and called my friend. “Are you ready?” “you mean they finally brought the dog over!” “yes – I am on the way over now”.
I have keen sense of smell and the kennel and dog stuck! I mean STUNK! Oh my you poor little girl just hold on we are going somewhere where you will be loved and cared for. I talked to the little dog till we got there. Then I realized that in my hurry I had not even put on a bra. Yes Webster I know I is little anyways :).
I waited in the truck while my friend got ready and we headed out to the vets. I figured the first thing we should do would be to make sure the dog was not micro chipped and perhaps really belonged to someone else. No chip. So I drove my friend to the store where she purchased a new collar and leash and some dog soap! We got her back to her home and I gave the little dog a bath. It was quite the affair the two of us (my friend has MS also) giving this little dog a bath. KRP and my friend Miky came over and we all had dinner and made sure everything was going well. When we got home KRP and Miky opened the camper of my truck to get the carrier out to give back to the folks from next door and they about lost it. Oh my gosh your truck smells oh my how did you stand that smell going out to deliver the dog. Can you say lots of air freshener was sprayed and I guess today I will let the cab air out.
Yesterday my friend took her back to vet where she got a check up and all her shots. The three of them are a cute family I think (my friend has an older dog also). She has named the little dog Corkie. Corkie is just the sweetest little girl. She was trained somewhere along the line as she will not jump up and the furniture unless you say it is ok. She spent her first night sleeping on the bed and my friend said if she moved the dog immediately moved over needing to be in constant physical contact with her.
Here is Corkie dog with her new forever family:
